[PROJECT] MP5K front grip mod
going to be my first mod with (hopefully) proper tools.
going to mod my stock VFC MP5K front grip into a GSG style MP5K front grip to attach rail pieces. initial MP5K grip: desired goal: unfortunately to buy that item, I'd need an NFA approval which I don't have. currently I have two of the 2" rails and one of the 3" rails purchased from HKParts.net: and a TSC MP5K low profile handguard from Ehobby: unfortunately, the RS rail pieces purchased from HKParts.net did not fit the TSC. the tapped holes from the TSC were spaced too short by 1 mm for the RS rails and the circumference of the TSC handguard did not come flush with the front of the receiver. the rail fits perfectly otherwise though, just smaller on the circumference. so I'm going to abandon the handguard and stick with the original grip. looking to file a few mm into the grip so the rail can fit as well as drilling two holes to allow the screws to fit basic perimeter around the cut area. will start inside the pencil marking and will gradually correct and file to increase the cut if needed edit: last update includes buying a Dremel 200. got precision drill set but neither the actual tool and the set had the collet/bolt used to hold the smaller drill LOL. gonna make another on the weekend if not tmrw.
