Airsoft "Recoil" Kits
So I guess just a general discussion on who you feel about "recoil" kits. Do they actually increase recoil, or just Rate of Fire? Do they damage your gun...ect.
For example, I just got a recoil kit for my GBBR Masada, but I swear it feels like there is less recoil despite the added weight to the bolt and the extra springs to the recoil rod. It has improved RoF, but in my mind it feels like the reoil was lessened....and I don't want to go through the procedure of removing it and putting it back together...what a nightmare. So what are your thoughts on "recoil" kits? Gimmick or not?

looks somewhat like a gimmick to me. It seems like the kit is working against itself by increasing the spring tension. As a general rule, an increase in spring tension will decrease felt recoil. This is applicable on airsoft and real guns alike.
The weights should help because E=mv^2 and I=mv. therefore, if E is constant, an increase in M should cause a decrease in V and an increase in I. If you want the most felt recoil, you should use a heavy bolt+carrier and the lightest spring that still returns the bolt to battery. You could also increase the E in the equation by using a stronger gas, or use high flow valves. Hope this helps.

Depends on the kit, and the gun, IMO recoil kits should be used with CO2.
Recoil Kit + GHK + Devil Hunter CO2 = wtfhaxawesome Also note-able, if you reduce the fps of your gun that was 450 FPS, to something to 350 with a lame pass, er, NPAS** it will reduce the blow back feel. |
