G&G is what you buy when your budget is too low for a quality gun, because they are adequate and easily upgradable. VFC is what you buy if you want to invest in something excellent and efficient. These two companies dominate the top and bottom of the AEG world for $ versus quality, it's almost not worth mentioning others unless you want something specific one of them doesn't make.
I always recommend that anyone have an M4, AEG platform, because there's more real steel and airsoft parts, accessories, and customization available than any others by an epic landslide. Especially in this part of world, well every part, but especially here. Yeah, it's just an M4, but you can make them look like whatever you want with the right upgrades. Scars and ACRs are cool, but crappy ambi selectors, proprietary parts, proprietary magazines, unavailability of upgrades, etc, can ruin your day. They're cool, don't get me wrong, but that's my view. Go with a solid platform from a solid company.
