Inner barrel has difficulty going into outer

my stock dboys m4 was double feeding at the last game I went to. I was taking the inner barrel out to see if the hop-up was the problem. I noticed some stiff resistance pulling out so i tried to push back in and still was difficult to push in. Any ideas on what is wrong?

it's just a tight fit. Tight's better than loose.... hurrhurrrhurr....

joking aside, at what point does it start to get tight? halfway in? almost all the way in? Are you sure it's not the tabs on the hop up unit that are binding on the slots in the outer barrel?

Tight inner in the outer is not necessarily a bad thing... it becomes a bad thing when the spring on the hopup unit can't do its job and push back against the gearbox to complete the seal.

I had a tight fit on a recent project gun but that's mixing parts from different manufacturers. Outer barrel might be slightly bent, you fall on it?

yeah, it is about halfway when it gets quite snug so snug the hop-up spring cant push it back into place by itself. And i don't think the barrel is bent it spends most of the year in a safe

Make sure there are no set or grub screws along the barrel. I had one once that turned out to be a set screw set to deep it was touching the inner barrel.
