Inner barrel
May be a stupid question. I need a tight bore inner barrel for my jg bar 10 g spec sniper rifle. Can any tight bore fit in any gun? (Are they all made the same)? Second question is....I would like to get edGi barrel. Where do you get these? Thanks in advance.

You have to be careful with inner barrels and especially tight bores. The tighter the bore, the less accurate a barrel will be. On the other hand, a tighter bore gives you more power, so it allows you to use a weaker spring to achieve the same power, alas, at the cost of accuracy.
The very low end (read: cheap) tight bore barrels are usually no better, and sometimes worse than stock inner barrels. You absolutely need to buy from a reputed brand. For a JG sniper rifle, if you didn't change the hop-up unit (that is a good thing, it doesn't need to be changed, just shimmed properly) you need a barrel with a VSR cut, look for PSS10 barrels from Laylax or if you have a lot of spare cash, the PDI barrels are slightly better, but twice as expensive. If for some reason you did change the hop-up unit, most replacement units use AEG cut barrels. You have a wide choice of barrels, but again, the Laylax/Prometheus barrels are the best bang for the buck, the PDI are a bit better but much more expensive. If you are going to change your inner barrel, don't cheap out, a low end barrel will not give you much more accuracy than a stock barrel, it's a waste of money. As for how tight of a bore you want, for a sniper rifle don't go smaller than 6.03, the Laylax/Prometheus 6.03 are great, but the PDI 6.04 and 6.05 are pretty amazing too (but are expensive...). Edgi barrels are very hard to find in Canada, and I'm not sure Edgi still makes them, haven't read or seen anything new from him in years. They were good barrels in their time, but quite expensive and made of brass. Good stainless steel barrels such as Laylax/Prometheus/PDI will perform better.

All dynamics play a part in what type of barrel to get. Tightness of the bore, barrel length, quality, aggressiveness of the hop-up, and BB weight and quality. Different guns seem to have different results with different barrels, and different schools of thought suggest shorter or longer, tighter or wider is better. In the VSR family, which I believe the Bar-10 is, your using a VSR cut barrel. Consider getting a firefly hop-up bucking for starters, soft or hard depending in what FPS and BB weight you'll be using. I'd recommend staying with the stock length of inner barrel, but getting 6.03 tight-bore. Any tighter and your BBs may become unstable, but best results in the CSR family seem to be with the 6.03. Here's where I disagree with above; grab a Laylax (Prometheus) barrel, and not a PDI. Although PDI makes a good upgrade part, their barrels are nothing special. Prometheus makes a solid stainless steel, fluted inner barrel that has really set the standard.
If you're upgrading the Bar-10, you'll likely need to up your spring power to increase FPS. This will translate into you needing a better cylinder set, and a better engineered trigger assembly, which can end up being costly. Consider some barrel stabilizers as well.

I plan on going with quality parts through out. My question may not have been posed right. What I would like to know is if a sniper inner barrel is the same as a m4 or any other gun inner barrel? Can I buy a inner barrel that's the right length but says it's for a other gun? Since we are on this topic.... The barrel length for this rifle is 303 mm. Can I run a 500 mm inner barrel through its silencer and what benefits would I get from doing this or should I keep it stock length?

They are typically not compatible, but there are hop chambers that allow you to mount AEG barrels.
However, the VSR/GBB cut is better. As far as length, I was able to produce the same results with a 430mm barrel as a 650mm barrel. And my PTW is able to produce staggering accuracy with a 260mm barrel. Once the BB has stabilized itself in the barrel, no extra amount of barrel will ever help it become any more stabilized or fly any straighter. It's up to you, whether you go with 303 or 430, I'm confident the 303 would be accurate, but I can tell you with all certainty that the 430 IS accurate. As far as BBs, obviously you want the best. If you're running around 400-430, use .30g. If you're planning to run 470-500, then you absolutely need .36g Between 380fps and 470fps, we found little difference in range with a .30, but the higher fps rifle was actually slightly LESS accurate using all the same parts except for a longer barrel. |

Thanks for all the help. I understand now.
