Radio question

Ok folks got a question about gear.

Now that I've got my kit 90% squared away I am making that plunge into picking up a radio/mic does the old adage "more bang for your buck" hold true to radio's and mic's? I've looked at BestBuy and so on and see I can pick up a generic radio for about $30 and a simple mic for about the same am I better off spending more and getting more?

Thanks

Jherico

You'r much better buying a programable 4watt radio with a military style headset.

It will cost your around 100$ and you will be set.

Radios can be very important prices of kit
Your effectiveness on the field will be lacking if your team mates can't communicate with you

Cheap frs radios are cheap for a reason
-low quality components
-smaller broadcast range
-less features
-non programable bandwidth
-not all channel frequencies are the same between radio brands

In the long run you are better off investing in a programable UHF/VHF radio
I run a Motorola gp68 and it works way better than any frs I ever had

+1

Do not get blister pack radios, they are bad, and they do indeed feel bad.

Look into Puxing-777, 888, 888K, or other similar radios. They all run around $50~$80 and are extremely effective and durable.

As for headsets and PTTs, you get what you pay for. I went through 2 sets of repro PTT/headset inside a few months and just said fuck it and got a mil-spec headset and PTT.

I am not saying you need to go to the lengths I have, but make sure you poke around when deciding on what headset and PTT to get as having comms die in the middle of a game sucks.
