Weird ics l85 hop up air loss problem
Hello, im having a weird issue with my ics l85. It was chronoing at under 200 on any spring setting, and more air was coming out the magwell then the barrel. i figured this was a hop up issue so i changed the rubber, i also checked compression in the gearbox and its perfect. It didnt fix it. Why am i losing so much air in the hop up unit? they look like they are seated perfectly. im stumped.

Have you checked the feeding nozzle? You check the piston head's ring? Are there squirrels in the box?

check the hop rubber for damage
shine a light down the barrel and look at the air nozzle alignment make sure the nozzle moves back and forth freely, sometimes it gets caught up on the sector gear if someone shims it incorrectly and what kind of ammo are you using? ...someone should make a FAQ on this, seems we go through the paces twice a week lol |

I checked all that already, as to why i made a post about it. the nozzle moves fine, the hop up rubber is brand new. I expect the previous owner replaced the air nozzle with one that wasnt made for the L85, and thats causing the issue

You could try sanding the front face of the tappet plate so the nozzle sits deeper into the hopup rubber. Unfortunately you can't shim the hopup unit back against the mechbox in the L85, which is what I would normally suggest.

Yeah that sounds like a better idea then what I was going to do. I was going to add some washers to the screws securing the hop up unit to the barrel to push it back but I figured that might cause mag issues.

PROBLEM SOLVED. The air nozzle was getting stuck in the hop up unit. Had to file the hop up unit to open it up, solved the air leak.
