Honestly for AK platform I'd avoid TM. I can't say what the best AR platform is since they are all cast metal.
Haha, they do indeed break, but it turns out to be a very minor issue to repair with any 74M or AKS74 stock. That's my plan for her now, make an AKS74 as soon as the holidays are over and things calm a bit. Of a larger pain in the ass, would be the proprietary magazines.

Although I agree with GBBR, any future AKs for me will be VFC, LCT, Real Sword, with a higher likelihood of VFC or LCT as I don't want Chinese AKs. And I support looking at these brands for anyone after AK type rifles.

If you liket TM, go for it. I have a few and they are reliable and playable right out of the box. Good range, power a bit low, but a lot of fun.

@OP: I would not waste your time on a TM rifle these days; there are many other manufacturers who are producing amazing rifles compared to TM in both quality and reliability for far less of a price.

If you want recoil, go GBBR.

TM is good kept stock. Don't start using it as a build platform.
It's a great out of the box for newbies kinda gun.
Or if you live in Japan, in which FPS limits are not North Americanized.

As someone who has three, Next Gen TMs are fantastic, truly a joy. They are also a money pit. I went overseas to get work done (Eagle6 in the UK, great folk) because at the time the expertise and parts weren't there in Canada.
For the cost that you would have to drop if you can find one in Canada, plus battery upgrades, plus spring upgrade (most important), plus fixing the absolutely crap battery contacts on the SOPMOD with proper gold connectors... you start to stray (not right in but close) to PTW territory.

I'd like a TM recoil shock 416 myself as an indoor gun. Leave at the stock fps, tweak a couple parts and we can rock.

Met with Julian from the Airsoftgear shop in Richmond, B.C. today, put a reasonable deposit down for the TM m4 cqb-r, ordered mags n battery, super excited! Highly recommend him! Super friendly and helpful!

Although he doesn't stock TMs, he told me he has experience ordering TMs and he has done so for previous customers.

Also got AVed by him today! one super happy newbie here =)

Yeah, TM does some great quality control work, they are great at what they do but I think TM AEG's are wacky, Why have a 5 peice plastic upper receiver with imaginary trademarks when you can get a VFC 1 peice upper receiver with real trades ( refering to M4 Variants )

VFC's do have better externals overall though, and easy to tinker with if you're used to working on V2's/V3's. Have yet to really tinker on the TM ebbrs, but supposed to be even easier and I did do a quick dissassembly just to see, and it seems pretty straightforward.

I just happen to love TM's crap recoil, build quality, convenience, name brand, quality control, ambi-dex selector switch, bolt catch, and they make really nice mags (one has a bb dent in it already T_T).
+1. Their QC is much more consistent and better than the others. The chance of getting a TM lemon is much lower.

Their next generation series are all well bult and great !

TM has always been a measurable benchmark. I still religiously use their pistols to this day. In my opinion though, when airsoft guns humped over the hill, TM didn't come along for the ride. Compared to the new style AEGs, the TM is behind the eight ball, and way behind in price comparison. Other than perhaps indoor skirmishes, there is almost no platform that is good enough stock, if you're a serious player. $200 - $400 for a serious, all metal, one-to-one spec AEG, and then you have budget space for appropriate upgrades, which will likely be an inevitability. All that while getting the realism that TMs have always suffered from. This is simply my opinion, but mostly based on the standard M4 series of guns. If you're talking about guns that are more rare, or that have limited companies making them, then TM still wins on a few platforms.
