AK47 Real Steel Foregrip Owners
Hey guys,
I've ordered in a real steel ak47 foregrip, but have noticed that it is not a drop in fit for a TM AK47. I was wondering what modifications you have done to get your real steel foregrips to fit into your guns. I'm analyzing the grip, but I don't see any viable methods to get the front foregrip cap to hold the grip (the diameter of the notch is equal to that of the cap) Thanks in advance! |

Try talking to Freedom Fighter, he has moded real steal foregrips and stocks on both his AK's.

You need to make the diameter of that notch slightly smaller (take some material off the outside of the notch) and a wee bit shorter (I used a fine file). You'll have to monkey around with the rear notch too.

I hope you ordered parts made for milled not stamped receiver. Milled receiver stuff is the closest to airsoft you can get. I got couple of real steel ak grips in a while ago. Took Alex some time to mod them, but it sits rock solid on his gun now. I think the best idea is to mod metal body to accept rear notch. If you mod the grip it might break because that notch has to be dremeled big time in order to fit. I moded rear notch on mine plastic grip and it doesn't fit as strong as Alex's stuff. Not sure how Alex got front part to fit, I just used small files, took me about 40 minutes to get a good fit.

Sweet, thanks for the feedback gang. Here's a bit of an update of what the grip looks like:
This is the back section + the body of the gun. Here's what I've got planned: Left - remove excess material to create two notches to fit into holes of body Right - remove square notches for the grip notches to go into This is what the front section looks like. Notice the red U's I've highlighted, as they are equal in size, and the grip doesn't seem to have excess material for it to be shaved down so that it can fit into the Cap notch. Any ideas as to what I can do for this? And of course, a work in progress. Any feedback welcomed, as I'm in no hurry to do the mods til I'm sure I've found a viable method to fit that front section. Thanks! |

shinjit noir, I'm not too sure whether or not it will work but you can try using real steel end cap for the front section of handguard. It'll probably fit the handguard, but I'm not sure about barrel. You can always increse diameter of that hole in the end cap.
Slick, My bad, I got it the other way around Milled receiver parts are easier to mod than stamped. Good eyes Rick.
