I read this book about the SF in Vietnam, it was a collection of interesting/humerous anecdotes contributed by SF soldiers who had been there. One of the more entertaining ones told the story about a pet mascot monkey the Green Berets kept around their "A" camp, Westmoreland flew in for a inspection/ morale boost/visit and when they were in the TOC going over AO maps, this monkey took a interest in Westmoreland and climbed up and sat on his shoulder during the conversation. Everything was cool for awhile until the monkey got to yanking on Westy's silver hair, Westmoreland reportedly played it cool, which seemed only to encourage the monkey to get even more freaky until he was basically engaged in a all out assault on Westmoreland's head. Westmoreland continued to try and ingnore it until one of the horror stricken SFOD dudes managed to pry the crazy monkey off of his beseiged head. The narrator of the tale seemed to have gained alot of respect for Westmoreland for maintaining his cool under the concentrated attack of a agitated monkey.

Sort of off topic....If you want a strange first-person recollection of some SF guy's tour(s) in Vietnam, pick up Snake Eater by Don Bendell. If you can find it; thats the hard part.

Also, Low Level Hell (Hugh Mills) is an amazing first-person (again) account of Hugh Mills, an OH-6 Loach Scout Helicopter pilot. Amazing
