Gun struggles on semi

Just installed some Lonex high speed gears and piston into a teammates G&P m4. The gun shoots fine on auto, but on semi, it acts as if the battery is completely dead and it takes 3-4 trigger pulls for the gun to cycle, as the piston just gets progressively further back into the gearbox. Every once in a while the gun will shoot normally on semi. Tried with several batteries, got the same result.

Full parts list:
G&P shell + bearings
Lonex 16:1 gears
lonex extreme toughness piston
Modify cylinder + head
Modify air nozzle
40D sorbo pad
SHS cutoff lever
stock wires
SHS high torque motor

Check the trigger assembly, I once had that happen to be as the trigger assembly was burning out.

It did look pretty toasty when I looked at it... I'll try replacing and see how that turns out. Thanks.

What is the voltage, MAH and C of the battery?
What strength is the spring that is installed.

Could be the battery is too small and limited to pull that spring with high speed gears in semi auto fire mode.
Try a bigger battery and see what happens

If the trigger switch doesnt do it once you try a bigger battery see if the battery and or motor get hot it could be the shim job is tight or the piston doesnt move freely in the box.

It's only an m100 spring... for CQB. I'm running one of the standard Turnigy 1.2 7.4v lipos. Double checked the shim job and piston movement before final assembly.

Have you been running lipos for a while? Sounds like a messed up trigger switch.

Got nagging feeling it's the piston getting stuck at the edge of the cylinder wall.

Noticed on some of my guns the Lonex pistons hit the bottom edge of the cylinder. Overtime you notice the reinforcement walls (where the nylon teeth start) get shaved off a bit and everything ends up working fine.

Overpower it with a 11.1v lipo for a few shots if you're confident it isn't shimming/piston binding/motor height. See if you have issues cycling after.
