Lighten Color of Pouches?

I am currently using these:

http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?products_id=37569

And they are much greener than they appear in the picture and it doesn't really match the rest of my OD green gear.

Is it a good / bad idea to lighten the pouches with either hot water or bleach? Are there other ways of doing it?

Perhaps you could lightly dust them with some Krylon Khaki spray paint? Just slowly and lightly dust the pouches with it until you have the desired colour. I'm not 100% sure if it will work, but I have seen it done before with fairly good effect.

I would just leave it, I have the same issue and really is it that big of a deal.

At the end of the day it's airsoft not a fashion show.

Yes, it's been in the wash a few times but I wasn't trying to fade it then.

Hey, that's Krylon idea is not bad. I might consider painting that black part too.

Verex, I agree that it's not a fashion show, but it seems that it's the only part of my camo that sticks out. I only noticed that when I saw a photo of myself.

Thanks for all your help. I think I'll give the hot water method a try and see how it turns out. I hope I don't melt the hoops or anything...

Wait you mean airsoft isnt a fashion show for grown men?
Better tell the rest of the community that lol.

@the OP different variences in the color of your OD isnt a bad thingits actually good as it can help to break up uour pattern more.
Dusting it with crylon will make it look lighter but it still wont match the rest of yer gear. I personnaly have one bit of kit thats a woodland chest rig but some pouches are OD RG CB and so on still looks fine.
My light weight rig i use when sniping is an Od or Rg rig with a mix or greens and tans for pouches creating a woodland or multicam tupe look.
Bottom line is even in high end gear there will be variences in color from run to run on rools of cordura and other fabrics even patterns lik MC Cadpat and woodland will look different from one run to the next especially if you look at a BDU compared to a chest rig the cordura will look diferent from the poly coton blend and so on.
Looking at the photo tho yes that is not OD green its almost lime green lol. Try dusting with OD green krylon to darken it. Fading ot in the sun or in water n soap will make it lighter and brighter as it fades out the color so dont bother with that you need it darker not lighter.
Also ill point out if you read the reviews below the item most of em complain the color is off

I'd say just use it. Let it wear out.

different shades will work better as camouflage then a single solid colour. I use khaki, CB, Multicam,OD AND black pouches on my OD chest rig with my multicam blast belt.

I Don't need my gear to make me look good, I make my gear look good.

Thanks for everyone's input. I bought these pouches when they first came out on Evike and there were no reviews back then.

I think I'll take your advice and leave it the way it is, maybe wash it a couple of times. The green seems... brighter than OD. My vest looks faded compared to the pouch.

Anyways, money is probably better spent elsewhere. Thanks again.

About Fabric Color:

1) Don't go by the colour that you see on your computer screen. The colour is often slightly different because of lighting

2) Colour on Fabric will vary from different mills or different production run. It is specially true because many manufacturers will buy on price rather than colour consistency.

I soaked the pouches in some boiling water and let it sit in the sun for a day, and it does look a shade darker. It has a dull faded green now, which looks real nice. I've left it in the sun for 3 days now (sunny/overcast weather). I'll check to see how it looks when I get home. If there's a noticeable difference, I'll post up a picture.

Whew! Glad you didn't use bleach. That can sometimes come out splotchy and uneven.
