ACOG 4X scope
Hey guys, im planning to get an ACOG 4X scope for my M4. I prefer one that has good eye relief that can have many reticle types and that is clear.. What would you suggest?

the real steel version doesn't have the greatest eye relief either. i cant see clones being better.

"Many reticule types" applies to red dot type optics: the 4x ACOG will have a fixed reticule (usually the ACOG "T" similar to the real one).
realsteel ACOG reticule Eye relief on the real one is extremely short, and is slightly worse on the airsoft clones: expect to have your face about 5cm from the optics.

So do all ACOG 4X clones the same or are there better ones?

get an RDS ACOG if you are going for looks. it will also perform very well.

There's only a few 4X clones (most went the red dot route) and of those I haven't heard of one being substantially better or worse than the others.
I have one of the ones Huang sells, myself (early ones without markings). Works fine for what it is and the price. Clarity isn't as good as a real one, or real rifle scope, or even my G&P M3 repro, but it's good enough to aim with. It's not a camera lens.

According to what I've managed to read up so far is that G&P's hold recoil. Any other brands out there that can do the same? Any feedback from the field from the guys using G&P's?

I had a G&P ACOG 4x, clear glass and solid as a rock. I've dropped it a few times and it's perfectly fine. As for holding recoil, it was on my WE M4 and the thing couldn't shoot as straight as an AEG so I took it off. For the few hundred rounds it was on the GBBR though it held its zero.
On the other hand, the reticle was off by about a degree or so making it canted to the left. It's so slight I didn't actually notice at first and then I assumed it was my mount that was off. I doubt they're all like that, I've got other G&P sights and they're fine for clones so I'm guessing I had a lemon. Eye relief was OK, I can't remember how far your eye had to be but I do remember positioning the sight so it was as far back as possible. Last edited by GSK88; July 19th, 2011 at 13:49.. From reviews and youtube video there's folks using this on 50 BMG without loss of zero (‪Replica ACOG vs .50BMG‬‏ - YouTube)
Now if you're not running a GBBR, consider the cheaper alternatives. The best way to ID the optic is the same are noted by the ARMS mount, lack of trademark, backup ironsight/ doctOr sight and authentic TA01 reticle http://dragonredairsoft.com/catalog/...products_id=39 http://www.ebairsoft.com/4x32-ta01nsn-base-p-1766.html http://airsoftdepot.ca/catalog/produ...roducts_id=223 Last edited by kullwarrior; July 21st, 2011 at 03:20.. |
