Classic Army P90 - Good Starter?
(Waiting for my AV to go through, btw. Will be checking classifieds when it has.)
Went into a store today and had a look at CA's P90 AEG, red dot sight version. At about $300, seemed like a good starter. 400-round mag, good weight/feel to it, seemed pretty sturdy. Plus I just dig the P90 :P I've read around on the forums and heard good things about it, though some mixed reviews. A good AEG to get started with? |

I haven't heard a lot of good things about the CA P90.
A P90 in general is a cool gun, but there's a few things to consider: -P90 hi-caps -ALL OF THEM- suck ass. I don't know anyone who runs a P90 with highcaps (unless they're using the ugly-as-sin STANAG adapter). 99% of people run P90s with standard magazines, either JG (about $30 a mag) or TM (~$60 mag). -P90 mags a big and bulky. Not unwieldy, but they are large. -Short barrel. Can be made longer when hidden with suppressor, but not necessarily the best outdoor or long range gun. -The RDS looks cool but the TR version with your own optics is superior. -The V6 mechbox is easy to get out of the gun and easy to work on. A real bonus for a beginner IMO. Is the P90 a good starter gun? Honestly, I'd take it over the oft-recommended M4 style, both because it's easier to work on and I like the P90 style a heck of a lot more. I just don't think the CA one would be my first choice. One last thing to consider: Do you want to customize your gun and stick all manner of accessories on it? A P90 is pretty limited in that regard.

The p90 is general is a really comfortable gun mostly for cqb for sure so if cqb is your thing id say go with a p90 as for a CA p90 im not sure there heard alot of good things about the echo1 e90. But if you want a gun that will last a very long time get a TM p90.

Start reading. Thats the general overview of a P90. Might have errors here and there as I have not looked at it in months. Go to the bottom of the pack for a review on the CA clearsoft P90 (same thing as the proline, just with a clear receiver instead of a metal one) enjoy |

P90
I have been running a TM P90 for 6 years, it fine outside so long as you are not playing on a parking lot. Range is slightly less than the average M4 but not enough to matter. Mine is upgraded to 385 FPS, so that helps a bit.
It is extremely short, easy and fast to bring to the shoulder to engage targets. The hi caps can be troublesome, but I have had few issues mostly light maintenance and do not over load and you will be fine. Mag pouches as noted are a pain very long and slow on the extract and reload. You really need to keep track of your ammo use. |

Stay away from the ca90 with integrated red dot. The red dot sight is plain garbage.... it doesnt stay on target, just like the Ares POS Mars sight that came with the earlier Tavors.

That being said, what's a good light for a P90? |

CA p90 PROLINE is awesome. Yes I own one. I say get it. I have had MANY long range kills with my CA p90. It shoots 390 out of the box, have very decent internals, and weighs the most out of all of them. I have owned a TM, have had time with the KS/echo1 and the CA beats them all IMO The hicaps DO suck though and the mags are a bit awkward.

From all P90 i have seen (TM, JG, CA, ACM), the Marui is manufactured the best. Sure, you have to upgrade it (gears, bushings) but all the other things, which you can not upgrade (body) are far better.
