you also have to change the front barrel for the SD handgaurd... If you have an A2 model mp5 you have to have SD front barrel for the SD handguard to fit.

You have to change the entire front end to make it an SD. I know because I made my A5 into an SD years ago and found nothing compatible between the two.

In that case he might as well just by a complete MP5 SD6, as the front set is worth about as much as the initial cost of the lycaon. CA B&T or G&G , can't go wrong with either...

I got lucky, got the entire front SD end for cheap. Think it was from a guy that converted his SD to an A5. Lol

I have one of each, so I agree. But beauty of the SD is with a slight mod to the inner barrel area of the front sight/cocking tube, you can install a 330mm inner barrel, giving you an easy extra 20fps.

I had a crap UTG MP5 SD2 that I upgraded with a custom railed SD handguard. Then found and upgraded to the B&T CA body and front end. Decided I didn't like the SD look anymore so I ended up converting it to an MP5A2 then to an MP5A4 with true 3 round burst via the ACSU.
Thus the FrankenMP5 was born with CA, TM, UTG parts and Modify internals. Actually, add WE as I have the WE PDW flash hider on her when I take the tracer unit off. :P |

Sounds like a pretty sweet set up!. My B&T SD6 which I just converted in to a SD5 is getting the ACSU treatment next pay day . In hind sight I should have thrown one in there when I had the mechbox open for the other internals that I upgraded, oh well.
