CF issue kevlar early 90's
While I was issued a steel pot,EX Royal told me of the
kev helmet that was issued at that time, those posts are not around for me to check since the forum move. Could someone let me know the issue kevlar helmet for the early 90's?? Thanks

US PASGT helmet, think we had the woodland covers for them. While deployed on a UN Mission they were painted blue.

The experimental one was the PASGT... the CF adopted the Gallet Helmet in 1997
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPECTRA_helmet Read the "Canadian Variant" bit.

Thanks again I left in late 96,I was only aware of what was in my unit
at that time. From late 89 till late 96 is the period that only concerns me for my rebuild of kit for the CF era.I might do a CF Somalia deployment build.

We where issued US Kevlar for my tour in Bosnia in 93. They where painted blue and we where then issued a blue cover later in the tour. I was issued the current helnet during the Ice Storm in Montreal. I don't think any units staying in Canada where issued the US kevlar.

Thanks
I was aware of some type of kevlar on deployment, but wasn't sure what we had at home for issue other than the steel pot.

Domestically it was just a straight change from the steel M1 helmet to the kevlar Gallet helmet. As above, the PASGT was issued to those deploying on UN ops and were painted blue or had a blue cover.
Nowadays, the only time the PASGT is seen is when CFLRS runs out of Gallets to issue to recruits

Oh the 3-season jacket, there were one or two people on my BMQ rocking those because they ran out of sizes in the ICE jackets...just great being the odd man out for inspections

Yea that's the one, couldn't find an exact picture of it on Google. Went through two winters in that thing, was great. Got to the point where I'd have people telling me to go exchange it but I kept it since it had become a running joke at that point.
