Here's the problem with a sword:
Kinetic Energy. Rubber Knives can hurt if there is enough momentum from the attacker and/or the victim. A rubber sword will have a fair amount of weight to it, and therefore, if swung, will hurt and/or be able to remove the goggles of victim. Anything which can remove someones eye wear is a hazard and should be weighed heavily against by the organizer. Personally, the only advantage I'd see with having a sword is length of the weapon, which is a pro heavily outweighed by the cons of having to carry it, inability to draw from close quarters, potential for injury of both parties, and the fact that more often then not it's easier to just shoot the guy. Having said this, I'll always have a rubber knife on me, because when the opportunity to kill 5 guys with their backs to you arises, it's really fun. |

God, that kid was a joke. Looked at his site the other day, still nothing but trolls.
Either way, i think i'd rather go without knives in gameplay. They're cool if you're capable of getting kills with it, but even then its slim as hell. |

To me a knife is almost a must, and you dont need to stab or anything, just tap with it, just like you would your hand. I have to say from especilly my paintball days and my few airsoft days you get more then enouph knife kill chances to warrent a $15 rubber knife

I assume it differs per field but would hard plastic be acceptable to use in a game? Im thinking a light tap with the side of a blade or similar.

Just got a 1918 rubber trench knife and first day out tapped a guy running around a tree. He wasn't impressed.
Definitely worth the purchase. |

However I also remember a time when a friend of mine grabbed my shoulder out of no where on the street in an attempt to be funny and he ended up getting his ass thrown to the ground because I was a douche and over reacted, I felt horrible because of it but thankfully he was ok save for a few scuffs and a bruised ego but it could have been much worse. So I can see both sides but Im unsure as to what the best course of action. I guess Im more interested in understanding others view points as when I was still playing back in the day no one I knew used rubber knives (that I can remember anyway). Cheers. You know at the time that he was posting I was still not sure if I was going to return to the fold so I stayed in Lurk mode, but god that was some crazy shit. Glad to see their website imploded under the weight of its fail. Last edited by Rugger_can; May 18th, 2010 at 02:37.. |
