old M14, brand identification
Hello ASC Forums! quick introduction: I'm Acorn, I play with NIA in the Northern Interior of British Columbia, I'm a very new airsofter, and would absolutely love a little help on this possible complex project.
so, through an interesting series of events I received an M14 AEG. No idea what brand it is, no idea what FPS it shoots, its a metal body, metal reciever, metal everything minus the stock which is plastic. pictures! More here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronwi...7623600140021/ yes after the teardown, it still fires great. So what I need help with is scrounging the internet for some key parts of the gun, most important of which is the Safety. Broken parts include: Safety (snapped in half) *just underneath the trigger guard in the picture, note the internals are fine, I just need a new plate* bolt plate.. thing (the part that covers the internals ontop) is now shattered from normal cocking and age. *the piece at the very top in the picture* the bolt catch is completely gone rail mounts (easiest to find) bipod is missing (also easy to find) and bayonet. Internals: Firing selector doesn't work hop up might be busted, not entirely sure... but it doesn't seem to work, upon disassembly it doesn't push on the rubber bit much anymore (assuming that is the hopup I guess. I'm talking about the black piece of rubber over the very start of the barrell, my hopup adjuster pushes into it to make a bump inside the barrel giving the BB the adjustable spin) Also, if someone knows where to get an EBR body conversion kit for a reasonable price (less than $750?) I'd love to hear about it. Function wise the gun fires great, possibly a little weak, I'm having severe drop after maybe 50 feet. One last thing, any interesting tips or if anyone knows what brand this is,that would be greatly appreciated, this is my first large AEG. current thoughts: that it is a CYMA M14 is unlikely due to the motor, battery compartment, battery and connector which are all different. the original battery connector was a small molex type adapter which I've since re-soldered into a standard 2 pin molex adapter Last edited by acorn; April 3rd, 2010 at 19:05.. |

Look in the mag well. The TM model will have:
Tokyo Marui Co. Ltd Made in Japan

100% is not a TM
1) TM would have a TM Motor. 2) Motor has Chinese writing, not japanese 3) Doesnt have Tokyo Marui written on the gun 4) TM fake wood stock isnt that shiney 5) TM wouldnt have broken like that lol. My money is on AGM or Cyma

I'm going for CYMA, because of the complete lack of branding anywhere, which I hear is common in CYMA M14's
I'm happy because that means I do have something Tm compatible for sure, and hopefully internals that function half decently, but will be upgradeable... I actually already have a parts order places for a new hopup bucking and safety switch. turns out I need to replace the cutoff arm as well, I'm gaming it next week, be guaging preformance and chrono the speed. see what I need to replace then |
