Eotech553 vs Aimpoint Comp M2

Hey guys,

I'm just asking if anyone knows, which of these two sights sits higher?

Because I have PEQ2 mounted on my 12o'clock rail, and I want to have a clear view through the sight.

I know that Aimpoint with Wilcox is the standard sight for MK18mod0, and a lot of these have PEQ2 mounted on top.

Will it clear it? How about the ACM553 replica? It sits higher than 551/552, but I'm not sure how high.

Also is the cantilever mount higher than the Wilcox mount?

Thanks for the assist.

I had a Wilcox mount, it sat higher than the BUIS I had on my MK18 set up if that's any reference for you. It shouldn't interfere with the PEQ, I don't know about the EoTech though. My RS 551 was mounted ahead of my carry handle and the sights co-witnessed, so if the PEQ is lower than the iron sights you should be fine.

You can get different mounts for the M2 to sit at different heights. What's the height (off the top of the rail) of your PEQ2? Bottom of EOTECH viewing window is 1", the top of it ~2"

With an Aimpoint and a "high" mount such as a cantilever mount, you will have enough clearance with you BUIS still being usable.
If you want to go with an Eotech, it'll be the same, but you have the option of raising it slightly.
Bottom line, if you are concern with your ability to use your BUIS in an instant, your optic must have a "quick-detach" mount.

Noooo. You cowitness your optic and irons so that if your optic fails you can use your irons with the same point of aim through the dead optic in between. The only time you should take off the optic is if the glass breaks or gets affected in a way that obscures your sight picture through the irons. Removing any of your sighting should always be a last resort, especially if they're zeroed.

Yeah airsoft, but it's kind of the same principle...only without your life actually on the line. I actually used my irons through the 551 simply because I was too lazy to take it on or off. When it got darker I turned it on and flipped my BUIS back down. Plus I didn't have a coin to loosen the sight...

I do not need my backup sights to cowitness through the aiming device, as they are flip-up sights.

It's the PEQ2, i want on my 12o'clock rail. The PEQ2 sits on a little less than 2'' (top "buttons" included).

Which Aimpoint mount is the highest? Wilcox or the L-shaped cantilever mount?

Thanks for replying.

I have a PEQ-15 and an M2 with a Cantilever mount. Even with the the Cantilever, the M2 doesn't clear the PEQ completely, so I had to get raiser.
