I got back at 4 a.m. from what can only be described as an avalanche of food from which guests had to eat their way to freedom. My friend's wife is a f'n amazing cook.

New BAC limit (Quebec passed from 0.08 to 50mg/100ml) wasn't as bad to respect as I'd feared. Still came across some idiot using up 3 lanes of highway on the way home, which led to an interesting conundrum: I was gonna call the cops to report it (he was weaving around something fierce, he had to be severely shitfaced), but now you aren't supposed to use a cellphone while driving.

I was on duty yesterday with rounds at 0400 this morning so early night for me and then woke up, ate a slice of cold pizza and a cup of coffee and then the CO showed up with champagne. Woohoo an exciting new years for this guy.
