Love mine ! ( M16-12Z) ...

Over 1 year of use and abuse ( military, hiking, home ) and it's still in pretty good shape...

Just bought one online.

They only had green, though I would have liked black.

Errrr. FUCK AUS8 steel. It needs constant maintenance. I have a SOG spec-elite II, and it needs to be sharpened constantly. Before that, a kershaw para-knife. Same deal.

Stick with S30V, or 154CM. They are the best you can get at the moment.

CRKT makes pretty decent knives. I have quite a few in my collection. However I agree with KOS...the edge holding capability of AUS8 steel could be better.

Any suggestions as to which to go for?

AUS8 is definitely a good steel for a knife. Most of my pocket knives I use pretty hard at work are AUS8a, and they hold an edge pretty well and they are easy to sharpen. You wont have to be leaving over a block sharpening all day.

It's a good mid to high end steel. But S30v, 154cm and VG-10 are better but more expensive.

Well, the sharpening times are moot. It's either your sharpen once for 2 months, or sharpen every week. Either way, it's a pain.

440C, and AUS8a seem to be very good low-budget knives, but the S30Vs, and 154CMs are becoming cheap very quickly.. so, I'd keep an eye out.

Sure, let me know how much you're willing to drop

You can get a ZT300 for about 220... Or a Kershaw Avalanche for 180.

I'm a little sketchy about the speed-safe opening, but it seems to be legal for the time being...
