CA G36C Gearbox Lockup

So the problem is, the gearbox locks up after i pull the trigger halfway so that the piston is puleld all the way back to teh spring guide. But if i dont mess around and jsut hold it down it works through, but until i lock it up.

Any ideas why the V3 is locking up?

Also, I was working before, just took it apart to clean it now its just jamming up. All the peices are there, shimms are proper..is there something that the spring is catching on or what?

I think this would be bad timing. The sector gear stops the motor before the piston is released, then it is held in place by the anti-reversal latch. At this point the motor can't move the spring anymore.

Time to open the mechbox, or send it to a gun doc...

i thought gear timing was a myth...although i do make sure that the sector gear teeth are not touching the pison then i just put it together..

so is it really a mtyh or is there some tutorial or just some words of advice that can help me put those gears in the right spot?

Did you upgrade anything? Mine did the same thing after I put in a stiffer spring. A large battery solved my problem.

That is what i was about to write.
Harder spring = bigger battery

I'm having exactly the same problem. Went to a 170% PDI and now it locks every time. Can't figure out why when I have a 2000mah 9.6V

It might not have the discharge rate to pull the spring. It happened when I upgraded my M4 to an M120 spring. A large or regular mini (not for too long) could pull the spring but mini nunchucks had some issues.

Well.. timing sorta is a myth. There are certain places you can put the sector gear to maximize efficiency. Most people put it so the spur is at the 2 o'clock position.

After it cycles once, it corrects itself. As long as you don't have the notch somewhere stupid like under or before your tappet plate.

hey he said it does it when he pulls the trigger only halfway?
kinda made me think of that thing that all the gearboxes do if youre pulling the trigger too fast in semi or not back far enough in semi and then it wont shoot but is easilly remedied with a short burst in full auto

and i thought someone in here or mechbox.com said that for proper gear timing the notch on the gear that pulls the tappet plate back should be set in the 1 o clock position

It might sounds weird but... sometimes when a gun jams and you don't have a fuse, if you hold the trigger for too long you can burn the motor and/or the battery. Maybe your battery is dead now.

You should try with a bigger battery, or check the wiring inside, maybe the trigger wiring is making a bad contact.

And for gear timing... well after each shot the gun reset it's timing itself (with the cutofflever).

Hope it helps !
