SR 16 Gremlins...

Im stumped... TM SR 16 is jamming on me now after a single pull of the trigger, cutting off all current from the fully charged 8.4 3300 battery to the motor. Ive pulled the gun appart twice now to unjam it, which I see is just stopping the piston mid cycle even tho it sounds like a full cycle..

Ya sounds like an electrical issue? but what? I just fully stripped it and inspected all contacts and tested fine.. replaced a knicked wire with new, reasembled and one pull and same jam.

Any ideas?

It is not recommeneded, but it your case it is better than nothing.

First remove your mechbox and remove the motor. Is it turning when your press the trigger?

Second, try to dry fire with the mechbox OUT of the gun...(that is the not that good part), just once.

If it works ok, or seems to, then electrical problem should not be it.

Check if there is some oxidation or grease on the trigger contacts. That also can be the cause of your miss fire.

1: No, I remove the motor plate, pull the motor, and try it quick, and nothing, no current. For some reason the jam restricts all current through the gun.

2: I can try that after I unjam it again.. but each time I press it once I dont even have the top in the gun, just the bottom of the body.

3. First thing I did was look over all electrical contacts, they are clean.

Alright, so talking to Stalker he had the idea something is screwy with my cut off lever and that its killing my current mid way through the cycle? Maybe worn sector gear, im gonna have a closer look... Anyone have any problems like this before?

does it sound like the motor is trying real hard to complete the cycle? If so even though u said its a full battery, try another battery thats stronger.

If thats not the case, try shooting it without the spring to see if it does the full cycle, or check to see if your shims are not holding the gears so tight that it actually causes the gun to seige after so much power.

this problem is either because there is no battery juice or the gears are to tight to move.

No my posts have already confirmed that when I take out the motor there is no current or any sound at all after the jam..

Well, swapped my gears for my Systema Helical gear set, tightened up the cut off lever, and its working again.. Little louder whine with those gears but im sure I can fix that..

Ya, and I'll be sober and laughing at you! Lost count a while back, but your learning your way around your gun problems is enough for me! Just remember, Sniper Hunt and Quick Pass, my tools are staying home. I got burned last year on one upgrade, won't tolerate that again this year. Will be socializing time 100% for me! Ok, and unpacking and gearing up, or packing to head home.

Love ya man! Got it all back together, shooting fine, new gears are pretty whiney, might need to losen the shims again? playing with my motor height as well.. Not sure if im making it to Sniper Hunt.. unless I drive myself, which will be a hefty gas bill as well as telling work to go away for the time lol.. Ill see if I can make a game out in that area this season tho..

No prob man. Listen, quite a few others have had whiney gears after installing helical gear sets into their guns. As far as I know it's part of the charm of them. At one point I heard they are shim sensitive, but I can't back that up. I think it's just the way the gear mesh, instead of having each tooth edge mesh along the width at the same time with each bevel, they gradually mesh into each other in a slicing action. Picture chopping a carrot with a cleaver, vs. slicing (drawing saw action in one direction) with a nice sharp knife. One way will be louder than the other, but you get my analogy anyways. Have heard that one shoudl use helical gears to reduce mechbox sound, but largely I've heard more complaints about increased noise than I've heard they do anything useful enough to cover the cost.

Alright, cuz Im sure the shimming was pretty damn good when I closed it up, So guess thats just it, they are whiney gears.. Maybe thats why the ICS sounded so loud with them.. I got a good deal on em way back so w/e

Hehe, is all good man! Ya, helicals are either extremely sensitive to shimming (such as tightbores make adjusting hop up very sensitive to get right) or are as loud and whiney by nature as the current opposition parties in the House of Commons, take yer pick. BTW, adjusting motor height does F.A. with helical gears, you have the choice between very whiney or extremely whiney.
