Looks like a goofy bill might go through in California requiring all airsoft guns to be a bright neon colour to be legal. Honestly in my opinion it's pretty stupid as a criminal now gains another potential way to confuse law enforcement by masking real firearms as airsoft with a quick paint job. If you know any airsofters in Cali pass this along.

Holy fuck, I am trying to write the Gov. Jerry Brown on this thing and there are A LOT of bills. Can't find SB199 but I did find SB01135: inmate/sterilization... whoa.

This is old news, years old in fact. This guy has been using it as his stepping stone in the bid for politics, but until recent events including shootings and Obama going after gun control it had no real traction. It's pretty stupid. As stated by the Canadian Firearms Program, "what's stopping a criminal from painting a real gun?". In fact it has happened. Hopefully everyone figures this out and the California airsoft scene gets left untainted.

Stupid bill, criminals already paint their guns bright fluorescent colors and tips orange to throw off law enforcement. Something like this would just probably get more people killed... Soccer moms and idiot politicians...

That being said, the changes to the minimum requirement are "better" than the previously, "paint your entire gun a bright color" requirement. Colored strip of non removal tape on the stock, same for either grip or mags, and colored trigger guard (plus the US orange tip). But either way, it still sucks, especially considering how big the airsoft industry is in California.

Found this video to be very informative, though funny thing, its done by a Canadian airsofter.

Does this mean if a cop see a painted gun pointed at him he won't shoot the suspect? Cops shoot anyone with anything pointed at them, just because they have a "real" gun and can do it. You point your finger with a red tip and the cop will shoot you regardless.

The reason for the red tip is for police to identify a real gun from a toy. I am pretty sure if the police see the red tip, they will still shoot.

The red tip and eventually all color guns is a conspiracy to eliminate replicas from society.

so paint our trigger guards, change flash hider, remove adhesive bands.

lets look at the bright side (no pun intended) at least they're not as bad as the UK (though licensing isnt bad) and they're not all coloured like nerf guns!
