Battery Charge time

Hey guys

I am hoping someone can help me on what is more then likely a simple question to you guys running AEG's. I just got my self a AEG and need some help on figuring out charge time and amps etc to setup my Imax By AC charger. This is all new to me so please go easy on me. I have 2, 9.6V 1600mAh nimh batteries. All they say on the batteries is this NIMH 2/3A 1600mAh. I try to search that and I get lost. Any help would be great. Thanks

max charge at 1C, so 1.6A
I don't usually go over 1.2A for the mini batts though

knowing the kind of charger is quite important lol... most nimh cells found in the crappy airsoft packs probably don't like rates close to 1C... I've found the slower the charge the better for nimh. I used to charge at .5C on my smart charger.

If you can't adjust your charger... well then you charge at what it charges at. :P

You may have a standard wall charger, which is not recommended usually because it won't stop charging the battery when its full. That could cause overheating, and potentially ruin the battery.

However, most wall chargers do have a description of its output on the adaptor itself, which is crucial in calculating how long you must charge it.

For example, the output may read "DC 9.6V 500mA". Using this, combined with your battery's capacity of 1600mAh, you can calculate the charge time.

1600mah/500mA = 3.2 hours.

In this situation, you would need to charge the battery for 3.2 hours from completely empty to full. If the battery still has some juice left in it, you run the risk of overcharging.

This is why smart chargers are recommended, since you can never be certain how much juice is left, and how to adjust your charge time.

I could be wrong... but probably, most likely not, as far as I know.
