Can NiMH Battery Be discharged?
I know its a strage question to be asked, but I just got my Intellect Battery, I charged it with no problem, took a few shots to test out my AEG, then Discharged it with the Guarder Discharger. Couple weeks after I try to charge it it doesn't respond. (I use the Systema Quatro Auto Charger).
Can someone help me out? Thanks |

Try to cycle it a few times, and see what happens.

what do you mean? sorry. Looks like it won't charge cuase usually when I plug it in, the loght starts blinking which indicate its charging, but With this one, it doesn't seem to respond. I've also check with my other batteries, they all seem to charge fine. So I was wondering if I over did it on the discharge.

Discharging NiMH's is generally a bad idea.

Put a voltmeter on it and read the voltage. I've been able to recover a few NiCads that were dead, and an average charger wouldn't charge them. But it required an expensive charger that would cycle them automatically, and sometimes after a day and many cycles it would come back to life.

Just stick it on the charger for a cycle, put in your gun and test, repeat a few times.
If it doesn't work after doing that 2 or 3 times then it's probably shot. |

Well looks like I was able to use a regular wall charger and gave it a bit of life And put it back on the Auto charger and its charging properly now.

Yeah, you may have just damaged the battery significantly by discharging it totally. Unlike Ni-Cad, Ni-MH batteries are best kept fully charged. Never let it get totally drained as it can damage it. You may have been lucky and managed to ressurrect it for a while, but if I were you, I'd be shopping for a new battery nonetheless, because chances are, this one won't last now.

Try it an find out. You may have only lost 10% of it's capacity, maybe nothing at all, or maybe 50%.

With a good quality charger you'd be able to tell how much goes into the battery...
