WE 1911 wont finish 15 rounds in a mag
i just got my wilson combat yesterday and to my discovery. using propane (aka green gas) like it says on the manual. my gun doesn't even finish the full 15 rounds it can take in a mag...uses the gas up by the 11-12 round. is this suppose to be normal? i dont really mind. i am just wondering if there is a problem like this in existence with WE mags.
![]() the stock spring on the gun is quite weak i might add. planning to upgrade to a 150% spring:tup: |

Try warming the mags after filling. The WE single stacks really doesn't hold much gas to begin with and the valves aren't that great, so anything less than warm weather is really hard on the gas efficiency. Also check the fit between the piston head and loading nozzle, it can be a little loose.

Try silicone oil, and also keep shooting, go through as many mags, maybe it's just breaking in?..

WE's have really heavy potmetal slides, so that doesn't help either.
Also, if it isn't finishing the mag with the stock recoil spring, a 150% spring would be even worse. |

Lube the slide as well.

I think the conclusion you can safely draw is that WE's aren't the best GBBs, and their 1911s in particular aren't the greatest.

if your propane tank is almost out of gas, then it won't have enough pressure to fill the mag fully.

I've found if I use a nearly full propane tank, and let the mag fill for a long time, I get enough gas to fire all 15 rounds. Otherwise, I get the same problem as you.

Like Roughneck mentioned, lube the contact area between the slide and the frame (I use white lithium grease).
I also noticed I had to fill the mags perfectly perpendicular to the fill valve, or it doesn't fill fully; roughly the problem described by the OP. On a proper fill I'll get about 1.5 mags out of it. And check the length of your recoil spring guide in relation to the depth of the recoil spring plug: if the guide is longer (~0.1-0.3mm) you'll have to trim it a bit to avoid damaging the recoil spring plug and destroying your barrel bushing (see other WE Tactical threads). Are you doing the normal 5-second fill, or is there something different for WE mags that I'm not aware of? I'm a KSC user right now, but I've been thinking of picking up a Wilson Combat sidearm (for slightly obvious reasons).
