Hey everyone I have a question about my airsoft pistols. They are both co2 powered by standard 12g CO2 powerlets. One is a smith and wesson M&P40 BB pistol with a 15 shot magazine and the other is a Umarex Walther CP Sport pellet pistol with an 8 shot speed loader. My question is... The smith and wesson pistol shoots about 8 clips with a standard 12g powerlet, and the walther CPS shoots about the same. I'm wondering if I could use an 80g co2 powerlet in my pistols so that I could get more shots out of them without having to change co2 powerlets. Would the 80g powerlet be too powerful for the guns? or would it be the same power, just more shots per canister. any input is appreciated, as I am relatively new to the airsoft scene

Pellet pistol? Are you talking about a BB gun?

Do you have a magazine that would be able to fit an 80g powerlet? Is one even produced by any of those companies? Perhaps if you had sufficient mechanical ability you could rig something up, however I do not believe its worth the effort.

Looks like it from my search on the guns mentioned.

Wait a minute here. Are we talking about .177 pellets (or 6mm Copper BB's) or Airsoft BB's (.20-.36+ grams and the guns fire at less than 1.41 Joules usually)?

Both items are pellet guns however the question is simple enough to answer here.
If you are interested in pursuing the matter you may wish to try over at a pellet gun forum like http://www.airgunforum.ca/forums/ as they would most likely be able to answer such a question in greater detail.

Whaaaaa zomg pellet guns! zomg. To answer your question, no. Both those are designed to use only the 12g powerlet. Using the heavier powerlet will usually result in weapon failure. Besides the 12g units are dirt cheap |

Exactly. Is why I bought a Crosman CO2 airsoft pistol, reliable backup and cheap to use.

Anyways, if you're worried about cost, on eBay I think there was a seller selling them pretty much at wholesale, I think 10,000 12g powerlets and it worked out to like 50 cents each more or less.

you are stuck with the 12g co2 because that is what fits in the magazine

Fixed. Most of these dont' have the CO2 cartridge in a separate magazine, it's located in the grip of the pistol, making the mag/clip smaller, hence the mentions above.
