But being able to change your velocity from 270 fps to 380 fps would make your gun more versatile without posing any actual threat to people.
If someone cranked er up to 380 in a cqb game they arent going to seriously hurt anybody except themselves when nobody allows them to come to games anymore. Sure, some people may get some good welts.
...and paintball has seamed to deal with it fairly well with many guns having a variable velocity.
