So, I ended up liking the downward offset a little more and spent some more time on the design. Still super early, but I think this is a good starting point and roughly what this half will look like in the end.
I didn't yet account for retaining glass or plastic to protect the rangefinder and possible laser, though to be honest I feel like the adjustment mechanism for the laser would be pretty bulky.
