That looks like the XRL recoil mechanism (out of the Philippines). Google it.
It actually does recoil, in the same way the TM SOPMOD does.
As for it being useless for airsoft, it's "uselessness" is on par with stuff like having to hit the bolt release on PTWs. Figure out for yourself.
