Being a collector, you probably don't want a bunch of bits laying around. Just get a carry handle mount and be done with it. It will put just about any scope well above the iron sights simply because it is mounted about the irons. It will not impede the use of iron sights either.

The stock front sights will only get in the way if you mount a scope directly onto the rails without a proper riser or mid-high mounting rings.
