Once you have your base coat and a few stripes in there in the colour of your choosing, you wrap the rifle with some netting (anything with a lot of holes in it works. We used a French floral end-table cloth thing, complete with patterned fleur de lis) and then go nuts. I just used a solid colour the whole way across but other people do stripes and larger areas to further break it up.

Remember to "dust" the whole project with an olive drab or brown to give it a dirtier, more realistic look. Comes out great in person.
