Okay so I have an update.
Got the new spring. It was the guarder spring that was the problem. Now the hammer is having a bit of difficulty going down. I am going to try one more fix. Tonight or tomorrow. The problem is when the slide moves back it's a tough push. I'll explain it more when I have time.
