Since when to cocking handles come right out? I'm not familiar with G&G in particular, but to me, they shouldn't come out. They should be held in with a spring and pop back when released. Sounds to me like you either have a broken spring or the plastic retaining clip that holds the cocking handle in the gun is broken.
When you pulled the handle, does the ejection port cover open?
