on a spring, the ends are double or single coiled (end is flat sits flush against inside of piston and any washer on spring guide), but when you snip it the end is going to be on a angle and not sit flat and the end is going to want to dig in when the spring is going to be compressed and torque will occur in the spring especially if it snags due to being cut. The twisting will cause the spring to prematurely snap over time.

But having the 2 washers and the bearing will allow the spring to rotare eliminating the spring torque:


I've seen the washers and bearing on the inside of the piston and on spring guide. Mind you I only use one set, I think 2 sets on either side is over kill.
