Get rid of the safety lever, period. Useless thing.
Loosen the two main screws, in front of the magwell (the fake one in front of the trigger guard) and the screw behind the trigger, guard, put the mag in fully seated and hold it there, then snug the two screws down again. Mag has to be inserted every time you secure the upper to the stock. Othewise you get alignment issues like the one you have now.
