Leave stuff with family in China and buy new here. That way when you are on vacation or going back to China you can get it from a friend or family member.
BTW where are you immigrating to? (I bet it's either Vancouver or Toronto).
If you go to Vancouver it's not that bad and there is a large Asian population, you will find it easy to fit in (plus if you need help there is always the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. centre in Chinatown). The same is true for Toronto (or so I've heard).
