Never taken a look at the repro's yet, but the real deal are great headsets. They tend to fail where the boom mic/drop cord attaches to the housing, so I'm sure the repros will have this problem too:
The units are not repairable, which sucks. It only really happens if you reef on the mic or cord. Take care of the unit and you should be fine.
I wound up making an adapter for the real ones so I can listen to an MP3 player on ruck marches. The speaker they use is fabulous, it has better sound than the high quality headset I bought for my player.
