I had an AUG before, and I have on in my hand right now (got to repair it).

I didn't had any problem with the vertgrip stem... but I heard that is can be a problem. I would say, just use the gun like that, if it breaks, then you can change it. If not, you just saved 30$!

As for the scope, I have a 40mm 3-9 scope. I can't install it on the AUG with my low mounts, the dial for the zoom is in the way. The customer has a 30mm 4x scope and there is no problem using low mounts. I would suggest you to use med rings too. High rings don't fit right on an AUG since the rail is already rised. Better on ARs.

As for the battery, you can do a little notch on the bottom right side of the buttplate, so that it is not too visible, and the wire won't be in the way.
