I held one and it disgusted me, it's lighter than a CA249, and upon touching it the metal actually feels as crappy as it is lol
The internals are the same as CA249, so making it into a high performance LMG is no problem, but all the weakness problems of both the STAR and CA249s are going to show up, the front sight will be weak, the cocking handle may break, cant use the carrying handle and the bipod is going to break. I believe someone who owns one already broke their bipod...
Anyway if it's all you can afford and you take good care of your guns in the field, it should be fine for you. If your more rough and tough with a deep wallet, I've tripped on barbed wire while running and landed with all my bodyweight on my G&P 249 with the box mag in it, and the box mag didn't even break. Not to mention once you shim the gears it's got really durable stock internals.
