brilliant. Pretty much answers all my questions (except 1).

Regarding the ACOG: can the magnification be reduced to x1? I know x1 is no magnification! My point was that I think I see pretty good without magnification for airsoft ranges - I don't need magnification, it just looks cool to have a scope.

I was just wondering whether in real-life, is it typical to have a x1 magnification "scope" that has a red-dot, or are those things just stuff for airsoft (made to imitate scopes that would have some magnification in real-life?).

Plus, the second part of the question was about the G&P ACOG clone in particular - can it zoom out to x1 magnification, so I can use it without magnification for most of the time, but zoom in for those moments when it might be cool? That way, I can just save up and get ONE scope, rather than buy one of those x1 magnification scopes for normal use, and then an ACOG for those rare moments when I might want "some" magnification.
