I found the same thing with my Echo-1. Adjust the sight as much as you can but it will only get so good. If you buy a tight bore get a longer length and a different nozzle while you are at it. The BBs are like paintballs at any distance...totally random
I am finding the hop-up is always on with my Echo-1. Try replacing the little rubber piece (like wire insulation) on the hop-up to something smaller...like wire insulation or WD-40 straw.
Don't use the take down video off of mechbox.com as they are for the V2 gear box where you have to split the whole gun in 1/2 to get at the hop-up. Use the videos that airsofthawaii posted in the review section for this gun.
