As a combat engineer, what you would carry would depend on your task. Not sure what country you want to portray but the Canadian forces do not use any anti-personnel mines with the exception of the M18A1 Claymore (it is an "area defense weapon" not a mine since is it command detonated and not indescriminate). Basically, I'd assume you'd want to portray an engineer attached to the infantry. You'd carry C4, det cord, detonators normally, M60 ignitors, plus a small tool kit that should consist of a GOOD gerber multi-tool (an engineers best friend) and if you want to go all out get the engineer model with the c4 poker, and det cap crimper (not supposed to be used but anything goes overseas). When the infantry need doors breached, walls blown down, obstacles cleared, any general demolition tasks (equipment etc..) this would be your task. As well, identification and if possible, neutralization or disarming of booby traps, mines, IEDs, and UXOs would also be your task (however most of the time especially with IEDs, EOD personnel with the better equipment and training you wouldn't be able to handle in the field will come, but you need to be able to identify what the threat is). Also, minefield breaching (prodding, trip wire detection, etc..). As for weapon, we use the C7. Possibly with an M203, or maybe even a C9 or C6 but it's unlikely a platoon commander is going to want both his machine gunner to be an engineer as well as this is two very important roles that need to be seperate.
If you have any other questions let me know, just so ya know i've been a reserve engineer for about 3 years now, i've got 3 trades courses including EOD so if you have any other questions on combat engineers i'd be happy to help. Chimo!

*PS almost forgot this one, Field Engineer Knife is a pretty distinctive piece of kit that as far as I know is only issued to engineers and the airborned. It's just a sharp knife for cutting C4 (you have to use a sharp, non-serrated, non-sparking knife) kinda looks like a kitchen knife, not very intimidating.
