Well, ill tell ya. Im a new buyer, just got my first gun and probably went through what you did, constant research. Anyways, i bought a CA m15a4 Spc. I love it, came full metal and after I popped in a M120 spring and tightbore barrel. Yikes, good times. I was at a local field today and shot a TM SG-1, and it was hard to hold after my full metal, it almost felt toyish. But you do pay the price for full metal. My Rifle was worth $720ish from A&A...and after some $90 upgrades, plus spare mag and battery and tax, shipping ect....I think im in the $1100 range. And it was worth every penny, its rock solid, I can upgrade like nuts, and it has a full stock for a nice battery. G&P seems great for what you get, I might have gone that way had I done it all over again. But, far as ive seen I really made the right choice, go big on your first one if you can afford it. You wont be dissapointed.
