That piece is used in front-powered Armalites and its purpose is to hold down the wire that travels from the mechanical trigger switch/circuit to the motor grip hole closest to the rear of the gearbox.

Run the wire to that rear hole, and place that piece in to the rear most channel/wireguide so that the "Y" is upside-down and pushing the wire down. It keeps the wire clear of the spinning pinion gear / motor head.
