This has to be the worst bit of mis-information floating around. We
do not use the thermold magazines.
Originally intended as a "battlefield fire-and-forget" or "disposable" magazine, they were initially used as a reloadable magazine and promptly failed to live up to the task. We use regular STANAG M16 metal magazines.
You still may find a few thermolds in the bottom of a storage locker in some unit's QM, but they are not a common sight anymore.
