I'm kind of curious if it's any better than a standard M14 because in the end it only add a few more rails and a pistol grip...
Are you talking about real steel comparision between the EBR and a M-14? If not, being practical in airsoft is only a part of our reasons why we choose one gun over another. Otherwise, we should all be playing with version 3 mechbox equiped AEGs.

If you're asking about the airsoft versions, in addition to the 2 things you've mention, you have overlooked the issue of an adjustable stock and cheek rest on the EBR. The EBR also have it's stock in full metal and the bottom rail is a full length rail. All this gives each individual owner a chance to custom fit the EBR to his physical size and preference. When you can do this to a gun, you will get a very comfortable and reliable platform to carry out your missions.

Yes, the weight distribution is bad on the EBR but that can be overcome by using it more to get used to the weight. I use to think the same thing with my SPR and M4 but by playing with heavier guns, those guns are now a breeze to carry.

My main reason in deciding to purchase what gun or accessories is mainly base on my opinion that I think it looks great. Something may be practical but looks shit will not interest me to buy one. I agree it's a bad habit. I have a basement full of great looking stuff but works shit to prove this.
