Shimmintg can only be done properly by using own judgement. If you use a different mechbox than what the guide assumes you are using, it can fuck you up. Different brand of bushings, same thing.
Tappet plate could have broken for reasons separate from shimming (stock G&P tappet plates break because they feel like it, no other reason), or it could be because of shimming. Buy a new tappet (you need one anyways) and run it as is. If it breaks as well, there is something else going on in your gun, if it doesn't break, then your present one was a POS anyways.
