The little metal piece that connects the circuit for the box mag by the trigger broke on my m249. (I'm assuming this is the switch that broke on yours as well) I made a quick fix for it by gluing another metal piece to replace the broken tabs, and seems to be working well so far.
But yeah, STAR customer service is horrible, I emailed STAR nearly 2 months ago for a replacement part in case my quick fix was going to break, and I'm still waiting for a reply from them! G&P on the other hand has great customer support when I lost a couple of screws on my SR-25.
